The use of hydro-alcoholic gels during the pandemic is being massive with most international and medium size personal care companies focusing on the production of disinfectant products. Although cleaning and disinfection of hands is crucial to avoid the spread of coronavirus, our hands are now suffering the consequences by starting to feel dehydrated.

During this sanitary crisis, there is no home, bag or store without antiseptic gels which are mostly made from alcohol. Abusing of this product can cause reactions such as itching, dry skin or even swelling and our hands are starting to beg us for hydration.

So what’s next? Marina Erra, our Personal Care Technical & Marketing Manager, tells us a little bit more about the products that will now be needed and how Disproquima can offer ingredients to meet consumers requests.

“Coronavirus is changing some of our hygiene habits. Everyone is now washing their hands more frequently using either hand sanitizers or soaps. This is causing irritation as hands get dry and cracked. Washing your hands with mild soaps and gels, as well as using hand creams or nourishing masks formulated with the appropriate actives after washing your hands, is a way to prevent dry skin.”

Let us suggest some hydrating actives that can add to your products the moisturizing effect that consumers are begging for:

Is a skin-identical carbohydrate complex with both COSMOS and ECOCERT approval as well as NATRUE certification, ideal for natural formulations. Through its unique binding mechanism with the skin, it ensures instant deep hydration for 72 hours. PENTAVITIN® strengthens and protects skin providing strong improvements of skin comfort and appearance. Particularly suitable for dry and itchy skin and perfect for both rinse-off and leave-on products.

Urea increases hydration of the stratum corneum and decreases transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Applied topically, this substance has beneficial effects on the structure and physiology of the skin. Among its qualities, the moisturizing, keratolytic, desquamative, antipruritic and antimicrobial effects stand out.

Wound healing, soothing and stimulation of epithelization are some of the benefits of this active that acts as a lubricant on the skin surface, which gives the skin a soft and smooth appearance and enhances skin barrier repair, stimulating the proliferation of dermal fibroblasts and accelerating cell turnover. It’s a penetrating moisturizer that can be used in any kind of formulation, 100% safe bet.

100% pure natural moisturizer and emolient, Jojoba stimulates collagen synthesis in fibroblasts, aiding new skin formation.

Helps to keep hydrated and normalizes the skin by balancing ceramide and fatty acids in the stratum corneum. It enhances the suppleness of the skin by supporting differentiation and maintenance of a fully functioning stratum corneum and it also increases filaggrin levels.

Our COSMOS and ECOCERT certified aloe, rich in minerals, vitamins, amino acids and fatty oils, offers multiple benefits for the skin, especially dry, damaged, sensitive and irritated skin. Its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, moisturizing and soothing properties make of this ingredient the best ally for our skin.

Binds tremendous amounts of moisture to skin, delivering an outstanding tactile experience and skin revival immediately after application. This COSMOS and ECOCERT approved active provides excellent hydration capacity for perfectly moisturized skin and improves skin smoothness, elasticity and freshness.
